November 13 – 10:00 AM – Eugène Atget
Practically unknown during his lifetime and practicing an archaic working method; Eugène Atget is the central figure bridging the documentary world of the 19th century and the straight photography world of the 20th. His resolute commitment to visual facts mingles with a perfect understanding of light and space to create images that are both objective and poetic. This enigmatic man dies unknown yet goes on to inspire some of the greatest careers in the history of the medium.
